広島

I found this article regarding the bombing of Hiroshima via reddit.com, and it is interesting because it includes some photographs not only of the destruction to the city itself, but also of the people who experienced the event. They are very moving to see and also help to give a better understanding of the human suffering caused by the atomic bomb, but they also may be upsetting to some people. Here is the link:

I have been studying Chinese and Japanese history for a little while now, and I find that visual documents always enhance my learning experience in ways that words cannot. Especially regarding such a horrific event as the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I feel that the most powerful way to get an understanding of the real history is through photographs like these and also through the personal records of those who lived through it. In that area, I was also able to find two websites containing the accounts of some of the survivors. The first is in Japanese (there is also a link to the English version):

The second has several testimonies, and is called " The Voice of Hibakusha"

I hope everyone finds these to be as fascinating and moving as I did!
